Accountability Friday

There is no doubt that the cornerstone of any attempt to make a change in one’s life is the setting of goals and then having accountability of reporting the success or otherwise of achieving the goals set.

If you hit your goals this week then celebrate! Do something fun this afternoon – you deserve it. If you did not hit your goals it is very important that you do not beat yourself up about this. Examine the reasons that prevented you from success – did a health issue come up, were there unforeseen circumstances or were you goals unrealistic in the first place? Try to keep an attitude of detachment here – imagine that you are talking to a close friend rather that yourself in order to show kindness. We learn possibly more from our failures than our successes as long as we do not get discouraged.

So be kind, be honest and figure out what stopped you from hitting your goals this week. Think of adjusting next week’s goals if needed but do not try to play catch up – as there is nothing worse than feeling behind all the time.

Also try to see if there were any mindsets getting in the way – did fear or procrastination pull you up? Try to discover the negative thoughts that came up when you tried to complete your goals. Make sure you make a note of these thoughts so you can tackle the mindset behind them at a later stage.

Feel free to use the comment section here as your public accountability.
